Heat Prostration

This last week or so I was trapped in my house for eight days running, the victim of the heat wave and the fact that my wife's car was on the blink and that everyone in the family was borrowing mine instead--my wife to go to the doctor, and to carry stuff to her classroom, my older son to go to work, and my younger son to go to college classes. Between the three of them my car was never in the garage from early in the morning till after midnight. I tried to wash the car for a week straight. What a joke. Unless I was willing to wash it at midnight or later (or should that be earlier).

I checked the weather report every day to see how cool it is going to be at night. I can deal with heat during the day. But I need a cool bedroom to sleep at night. If nighttime temperatures get down to 63 or lower sleep is possible. Otherwise another miserable night. Some people commit suicide when the weather gets too hot. Makes sense to me.
