Bad Stats About LA
James Watson, the eminent scientist who co-discovered the structure of DNA, apologized humbly last week for suggesting that Africans were less capable intellectually than anyone else. What was less noticed in his apology was a comment that "One in three people looking for a job in temporary employment bureaux in Los Angeles is a psychopath or a sociopath." That is really quite stunning. I wonder if the LA Times knows this. Probably not. Here's another statistic to knock your socks off. Half the people driving the 101 freeway in Los Angeles late on a Saturday night are high on either drugs or alcohol.
