The Equality of Traffic Jams
Time Magazine reports on the growing tendency of local goverments to pay for crumbling infrastructure by selling roads and bridges to private companies. Naturally Time thinks it's unfair to motorists, who face the likelihood of increased tolls, but Time is only reflecting the attitude of government itself. It would rather that everyone suffer equally in traffic jams than charge a large enough toll to allow the roads run freely.
