Reading The Minds of People Who Don't Have Any

I've seen it half-a-dozen times already in posts by liberal writers. Yes, they agree, the Arizona assassin, Jarad Loughner, was insane but he wouldn't have acted on his insane beliefs if it had not been for the right's over-heated political rhetoric about ObamaCare and illegal immigration.

Well, this is a neat parlor trick--accepting that someone is insane but still claiming to know why he shot someone. This also, by the way, turns out to be a great way of suppressing conservative criticism of the Obama's health care or immigration policies. But hey, we can't let politics dissuade us. We got to let the chips fall where they may.

The web site Salon, to my great amazement had an insightful piece about people who pore over Loughner's list of favorite books for evidence of his political philosophy. That, Salon said, was about as crazy as Loughner himself.

Well said, Salon.
