Prosecute Lying Strippers

The lying, drunken, drug using, stripper who accused three Duke lacrosse players of gang raping her ought to be prosecuted. I don't know why the LA Times isn't using her name (it's Crystal Gail Mangum). She is not a rape victim who needs to be protected. She's a serial accuser who has done this before. This time she ruined the lives of three players, cost their families a fortune in legal fees, forced the lacrosse team coach to resign, divided the city of Durham, caused many professors to ignore the accused's constitutional rights because the accusations to them seemed so "true," and made prosecutors everywhere look like political opportunists more bent on conviction than serving justice. Now now they have a chance to do justice, which is to say, now they have a chance to prosecute Crystal Gail Mangum.

Will they do it? Of course not. This is America where political correctness trumps justice every time.

Actually, on second thought, there many be good reason for not prosecuting her. Apparently some lacrosse players were not much more sober than she was. There was some kind of dispute and drunken racial slurs were hurled in her direction as she stumbled drunkenly down the street. None of this was illegal but it was boorish and it most likely would come out in her trial. Thinking that the Duke lacross players didn't need anymore bad publicity for minor things they did do, given how much they've already suffered for things they didn't do, the state attorney general let it go.

Okay, maybe prosecution is a bad idea. A little shaming of her name wouldn't hurt though.
